Take the device eligibility quiz
This is chapter 2 of the Device Owner track. By the end you'll understand what the eligibility quiz asks, why each question matters, and how to read the estimated earnings range it gives you.
Time: about 5 minutes. Prerequisites: You've completed chapter 1 (signed up and verified your email).
Why the quiz exists
Not every device is profitable on Zyra. A modern gaming PC sitting idle overnight is a great earner. A six-year-old laptop on Wi-Fi running for two hours a day, less so. We'd rather tell you that up front than have you install the agent, wait a month, and find out you earned $4.
The quiz takes your hardware, your schedule, and your location, and gives you a realistic monthly earnings estimate before you commit to installing anything.
Where to find it
After you sign up and click the verification link in your email, you'll land on app.getzyra.io/earn/eligibility. The quiz is also accessible later from your dashboard under "Devices → Add a device → Run eligibility check".
The six questions
1. How many devices do you want to enroll?
A slider from 1 to 10+. Most device owners start with one device, and add more once they see how earnings look. If you select more than one, the quiz will ask about each device separately.
2. What kind of device is it?
Pick from: gaming PC, dev workstation, business desktop, home laptop, server, or other. In Phase 3 (mobile, launching after device-owner mode), this list will expand to include Android phones and tablets. Mobile is not in this quiz yet.
3. Approximate specs
- CPU model (free-text or pick from a dropdown of common chips)
- CPU cores (4, 6, 8, 12, 16+)
- RAM (8, 16, 32, 64, 128 GB)
- GPU present? (yes / no — and if yes, dedicated VRAM)
We auto-fill these from a system probe if you've already installed the agent, but at this stage you're filling them in manually.
4. When is the device idle?
- Overnight only (roughly midnight to 7am)
- Weekends only
- Most of the day (you don't use it much)
- Unpredictable / I'll set a schedule later
Idle time is the strongest predictor of earnings, more than CPU speed. A modest device that's online 18 hours a day will out-earn a powerhouse that's only online 4 hours.
5. Internet connection
- Home broadband (preferred)
- Business broadband
- Mobile hotspot or tethered (not eligible — we'd burn through your data cap and your earnings would not cover the overage)
6. Country of residence
A dropdown of supported payout countries. Pre-filled from chapter 1. We use it here to apply local marketplace demand and tax-bracket considerations to the estimate.
Reading the result
When you submit, you'll see an estimated monthly earnings range like:
"Devices like yours earn approximately [PLACEHOLDER] per month at current marketplace demand."
Click "Why this range?" to expand the explanation: what hardware tier we scored you in, what utilization assumption we used, and what marketplace rate we applied. The range is intentionally wide — actual earnings depend on real-world demand, your uptime discipline, and how power-hungry your device is.
What if my device doesn't qualify?
If your hardware scores below the marketplace floor, you'll see one of two messages:
- "Not eligible right now." Your CPU/RAM is below current minimums. Stay on the early-access list — we'll notify you if marketplace demand for lighter workloads grows.
- "Wait for Phase 3." Your device is a mobile phone or tablet. Phase 3 launches after device-owner mode and supports Android.
You can still keep your account; you'll just be flagged "Inactive until eligible".
